According to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, Arsenal are showing a “strong interest” in Red Bull Leipzig right-back Mohamed Simakan (23).
The Frenchman has featured 34 times for the Bundesliga side in all competitions this season, scoring three times and registering an impressive eight assists. Simakan signed a contract extension with Red Bull Leipzig in December, which ties him to the German club until 2027, however, just months after the signing of that contract, he could be leaving. Simakan is a versatile defender, who can play both at right-back, but also at centre-back.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in the defender, who has featured for the France U21 side, but who is yet to make his senior debut for Les Bleus. Should Simakan make a move to the Emirates in the summer, he would link up with compatriot William Sailba, who according to The Athletic, is out until the end of the season. That is a major blow for Arsenal, who remain in the title race with just three games of the Premier League season remaining.
