It sounds strange, but that is the situation.
To understand it, you have to go back two years in time. Then, in August 2021, the lawyer Juan Branco, representing the Penya Blaugrana of Lyon, complained about Messi‘s signing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Branco filed two separate complaints with the Paris Administrative Court. In one he called on the French league (LFP) to annul Messi‘s contract and in the other he criticised the decision of the National Management Control Directorate (DNCJ) not to take any action against PSG.
The latter referred to a decision of June 2021 in which it decided not to take any administrative measures against Paris Saint-Germain for non-compliance with financial fair play.
Case against PSG rejected
In the end, the Paris Administrative Court rejected the case, giving validity to the transfer. It is clear from the ruling that neither Barcelona had challenged the transfer nor instructed Branco to do so.
The ruling comes, curiously, after Messi‘s transfer to Inter Miami was made official. During his time at PSG, Messi played 75 games, scored 32 goals, provided 35 assists and won three titles: two Leagues and one French Super Cup.
