Jerry Springer, star presenter of the “Jerry Springer Show”, a bi-weekly show that aired from September 1991 to July 2018 on the NBC network, died this Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the age of 79, from cancer. A bit early, some would say. What a wonderful adventure others will say! For what? A concept all the more appreciated that each episode, by the choice of its witnesses, made it possible to broaden the debate to questions of society also a matter of controversy on the Ku Klux Klan, carrying weapons, abortion, discrimination of all kinds, adultery, adolescence, the American dream, drugs, religions, ****sexuality, and many others, some considered downright deviant. The shows often ended in fights, mud wrestling or buns. Critics rained down. Complaints too.

Most judged without follow-up, so popular was the character. Popular like a TV star in the 1990s and 2000s. Popular like a former big-city mayor – Cincinnati, Ohio, 300,000. Popular like a politician, journalist, newscaster from JT, film producer, occasional podcaster and of course, lawyer. Born in 1944, in the middle of the Blitz, in a London Underground station, he was the kind of one-man band that nothing can stop. Nothing except death. RIP Jerry Springer!
