The ‘Messi case’ is now history, Paris Saint-Germain have lifted his suspension after he travelled to Saudi Arabia without permission – at least that’s the club’s understanding – and Leo Messi, who returned to training earlier in the week, will be back in the starting XI against Ajaccio.
“Regarding the sanction, no one has made a statement. On the other hand, we are pleased to announce the return of Leo, who will start tomorrow,” announced Christophe Galtier at a press conference.
The PSG coach emphasized Messi‘s willingness to return to the squad.
“He trained with desire, with determination and he was eager to play again. As soon as he came back, I spoke to him to find out his state of mind and I found him calm, motivated to play and determined to win another title.”
Galtier also stressed the importance of the former Barcelona man for PSG.
“Messi is Messi, I’m not going to reveal his statistics this season [he has 20 goals and 19 assists in 37 games], which are very interesting,” he concluded.
“We saw it in Troyes. The team played beautifully with Leo. We have to find a way to attack as interestingly as we did against Troyes.”
