L’Équipe are reporting that Moussa Sissoko (33) will leave FC Nantes should the club be relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season.
The former French international joined Les Canaris from Watford for €2m at the start of the season, signing a two-year deal with the club. However, the second year of the contract is contingent upon Nantes remaining in the top flight, which is now in doubt.
Despite finding success in the Coupe de France, reaching the final before suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Toulouse at the Stade de France, Antoine Kombouaré’s men have struggled in the league throughout the year. Following a 2-0 defeat against Stade Brestois, a direct rival for relegation, on Wednesday, Nantes are in the relegation zone on goal difference.
Should Nantes be relegated to Ligue 2, Sissoko, who has made 40 appearances and scored twice for the team this season, won’t go with them. The same goes for Andy Delort, who would return to parent club OGC Nice.
