Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi and his international Moroccan teammates have been mobilising a call for blood donations in the midst of the aftermath of a devastating earthquake which shook Morocco on Friday evening.
The earthquake, which has primarily impacted the province of Marrakech has already inflicted a heavy toll, with reports of fatalities over the thousand mark. As Morocco grapples with the aftermath of the quake, calls for blood donations have surged, particularly those in critical condition.
Hakimi, currently in his home country on international duty with the Atlas Lions, has heeded the call for help and donated his own blood, whilst encouraging others to do the same.
A call for aid on social media
In a message shared on his social media platforms, the 24-year-old stress the urgency of the situation, asserting “At this moment, the top priority is to provide blood to those in critical condition. Blood donation is the responsibility of each and every one of us to save as many lives as possible. Your help is indispensable.”
All members of the Moroccan national football team, along with the coaching staff and manager Walid Regragui, have also stepped forward to donate blood.
